Task Description:
Oxygen/Propane Burning

Control Measures
Suitable PPE must be worn i.e. safety boots, gauntlets or gloves (not rubber), burning goggles, safety helmet, mask, and flame retardant overalls.
Hi-Viz vests are to be removed during burning operations due to increased fire risk.
Any burnt material is to be cooled down immediately.
All other personnel within vicinity must be aware to stay clear of sparks and hot metal.
Hot Works Permit System to be adhered to.
Ensure highly inflammable liquids are covered or away from the works.
CO2 Fire extinguishers on site (in date and at the place of work).
Sand is available on-site,.
Fire retardant clothing.
Any burnt material to be cooled down immediately.
Check flash back arresters, crimped hoses hoses and nozzles are in good working order.
Ensure gas bottles are correctly stored.
Ensure that correct gauges are used and are fitted by manufacturer instructions, inclusive of 'flash-back' arrestors.
Ensure gas bottles are correctly stored (bottle stand during use,
gas bottle cage overnight if stored on site).
Oxygen and Propane are separated and stored overnight (3 meters separated recommended).
Check hoses and nozzles are in good working order.
