HSE DOCUMENTS-SELF-INSPECTION MONTHLY CHECKLIST FOR FIREFIGHTING SYSTEM


The following are key points for the risk self-inspection monthly checklist for the firefighting system uploaded by the HSE Documents. For a complete checklist click the link given at the bottom of these lines.


Sprinklers


1. Weekly alarm test(s) completed & recorded?

2. Weekly pump tests(s) completed & recorded?

3. Sprinklers clear of obstructions?

4. Sprinkler control valve(s) open?

5. Clear access to sprinkler control valve(s)?


Fire Sprinkler Pumps

1. Diesel tank full?

2. Are Control Panel lights working?

3. Power supplies to control panels on?

4. Control panels switched to automatic?


Fire Hydrants

1. Clear access?

2. Hydrants, hoses, and nozzles in good condition?


Hose Reels

Clear access? In good condition?


Fire Alarms (FA) Confirm the following with the Service Contractor:

1. Are Bells/Sirens working?

2. Mains power supply on?

3. Fire indicator panel lights working?

4. Are Fire brigade connections in order?


Extinguishers

1. All present and correctly located?

2. Clear access?

3. In good condition?


Smoking

1. Smoking controls observed?


Fire Doors

1. Not obstructed?

2. Self-closing mechanism intact?

3. Doors can be closed manually?

Cutting & Welding/Hot Work


1. Hot Work Permits used and signed off correctly?


Security

1. External doors closed where required?

2. External doors/locks in good condition?

3. Security systems operational?


Electrical

1. Permanent electrical wiring used/ no extension leads?

2. Electrical fittings in good condition?

3. All appliances plugged into their own outlet?


Housekeeping

1. Accumulation of combustible items such as rubbish, tenant’s furniture, contractor’s tools and materials (timber, gas cylinders, etc.), and the building manager’s equipment and materials

2. Plant and electrical switch rooms clear of combustible items which could be ignited.

3. Fire pump houses, valve houses, or alarm control rooms freely accessible and clear of storage

4. First aid fire equipment (fire hose reels and fire extinguishers) unobstructed and/or fire equipment cabinets not being used for the storage of non-fire related equipment e.g. cleaners rags, brooms, or mops.

5. Fire exits and general passageways clear of any obstructions

6. Workshop or maintenance areas are neat and tidy.

7. Quantity of Rammable paints, solvents, and other chemicals limited to what is required

8. Recycle, waste bins and any other combustible items at least 10 meters from buildings or located in a secure area

9. Nothing stored within 500mm of sprinkler heads.
