Control Measures in place or to be implemented
1. Only certificated lifting gear is to be used,
2. Lifting gear is to be checked by a slinger/signaler.
3. Slingers and banks must be fully trained and have the necessary certification.
4. Only certificated lifting gear is to be used,
5. Lifting gear is to be checked by a slinger/signaler.
6. CPCS-qualified slinger signaler to be used.
7. Pre-inspections of Lifting Gear are to be recorded on daily inspection sheets
8. Check lifting gear and wire ropes daily for wear and damage.
9. Never tie knots in chains or shorten them by using nuts and bolts.
10. Always place the lifting hook centrally over the load.
11. Use only recommended signals.
12. The combined weight of the load and lifting gear must not exceed the safe working load of the crane.
13. When slinging loads, chains must be checked for positioning and the load slightly lifted to check balance is correct before the main lift.
14. Suitable size packers must be used below each load when lowering off.
15. Only bank man to give instructions to crane or rig operators.
16. Keep hands and feet clear of load during lifting/lowering operations.
17. Always wear gloves, high-visibility vests, and safety boots during these operations.
18. Loads should be lifted and landed in a manner that avoids damage to the lifting equipment
19. Exclusion Zone to be in place. Only essential personnel to enter. Once load slung all personnel exit the exclusion zone
20. No lifting directly over personnel
21. Tag lines, to control loads.
