Visual Inspection Items
- Check for broken, missing, or damaged parts and loose or missing fasteners
- Check that no safety switches have been bypassed and no warning tags have been placed on the vehicle
- Check the operation of the backup alarm
- Verity the safety signs and special instructions are legible
- Check the forks for welds, cracks, or misalignment
- Check that the means to retain the forks are in place
- Check the tires for cuts, and bulges, and correct the pressure
- Verify the parking brakes are operating properly
- Check the cleanliness of the engine and radiator
- Check the engine oil and cooling system for proper levels
- Check the fluid level of the hydraulic system
- Check the hydraulic hoses and hose connections for wear and leaks
- Check the condition of the seat belt
- Check the steps, pedals, and non-skid surfaces for damage
- Check the lights, mirrors, and windows for cleanliness and damage
- Ensure the mast sliding and/or all rolling members move freely
- Ensure the lifting and reach mechanisms move freely
