Water Swimming pools, water parks, spas are sources for year-round family fun round the to cool off during the hot summer months. Although the risks related to such water resources are low, they can also be sources of waterborne diseases:
- E. coli
- Cryptosporidium
- COVID-19 Virus
These organisms can easily get into swimming pools, spas, and water features through:
- Faecal contamination.
- Close contact with people
- Air and water contamination
Chlorine (Cl) can be effective against these organisms, overcrowding in pools, water parks, and spas can rapidly reduce chlorine levels.
These disease organisms such as Cryptosporidium (also known as Crypto) are resistant to chlorine so the chlorine needs time to be effective against these organisms.
The Water Swimming Pool Inspection Program must be designed conducted regularly to protect the public from the risk of disease and injury at public swimming pools, spas and the governing authority for such type of program must be the state/country's Health Department.
