Hazards in a Confined Space
Generally, various of hazards (e.g., physical, environmental, biological, fire, chemical) could be occur in a regular workspace can also be found in a confined space. However, their intensity and risks can be even more hazardous in a confined space than in a regular work site.
Hazards in confined spaces can be but not limited to the following:
- Poor air quality
- Asphyxiants e.g., argon, nitrogen, or carbon monoxide.
- Chemical exposures
- Fire hazard
- Process-related hazards
- Physical hazards
- Biological hazards for example, viruses, bacteria from faecal matter and sludge, fungi, or molds.
