HIRA for Concrete Pouring of Diaphragm Wall with the Help of 10 " DÃa Tremie Pipe
What is A diaphragm?
It is a methodology used to build reinforced concrete walls in the ground after deep trench excavation. The walls act as cut off the wall or serve as a structural member. Excavated trench creates a form for the wall. In this type of technique, the trench is brimmed with bentonite slurry (Bentonite slurry is a combination of sodium bentonite and slurry. For more details, a slurry is a thin sloppy mud or cement or, in extended use, any fluid mixture of a pulverized solid with water, often used as a convenient way of handling solids in bulk.) continuously circulated at all times.
Activity
Installation of the Tremie Pipe (TP-10") (10 " DÃa) up to the bottom of the under-construction excavated pit in which Reinforced Cage (RC) is previously fixed.
Hazards/Risk
- Improper Handling of materials or fall of material
- Improper securing of segments.
- Fall of the person into the pit
Existing Control Measures
- All the segment of the tremie pipe should be properly handled.
- Proper care should be paid while securing all segments.
- Ensure all authorised person should wear a safety belt working near the excavated pit while pouring
Activity
Proper pouring of concrete on to the tremie pipe
Hazards/Risk
Improper handling of material / Fall of material
Existing Control Measures
- The trunk of the pumper should be properly fixed to avoid splash.
- The area should be well barricaded and unauthorized entry should be restricted to avoid injury
