The following questions will be added in the checklist to prepare and use the hazardous substance compliance mechanism:
- Has an explicit hazardous substances policy been developed which includes identification of specific aspects of the workplace hazardous substances program?
- Is a policy and program in place for the provision of information and training?
- Is a policy and program in place for controlling the inventory of substances at the workplace?
- Is a policy and program in place for workplace assessment?
- Is a policy and program in place for controlling the risks of exposure?
- Is a policy and program in place for workplace monitoring?
- If the assessment process reveals that workplace monitoring is not required, include a statement which records that such a policy or program is not required
- Is a policy and program in place for health surveillance?
- If the assessment process reveals that health surveillance is not required, include a statement which records that such a policy or program is not required
- Is a policy and program available for emergency planning and procedures?
- Is a policy or program available for record-keeping?
- Are mechanisms available which review these policies and programs on a regular basis?
